Trick-or-Treat Tips from the Trash Man

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Oct. 9, 2012—When it comes to street safety, the Rumpke trash man knows best.

Rumpke drivers are on the streets every day, often working in the dark to collect trash and recycling at the curb. These drivers receive extensive training before hitting the streets. For Halloween night, parents and children should take similar precautions:

  • Be Visible. Avoid accidents by making sure children are visible in their costume, and that masks do not impede their sight.
  • Plan Ahead. Parents should set clear expectations and rules for older trick-or-treaters out on their own.
  • Use Street Smarts. Always look both ways before crossing streets and travel with a group.

Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc. has been keeping neighborhoods and businesses clean and green since 1932 by providing environmentally friendly waste disposal and recycling solutions. Rumpke is one of the nation’s largest privately-owned residential and commercial waste and recycling firms, providing service in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia.
