Louisville Scholarship Deadline is March 29

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Feb. 19, 2013— Students must apply by March 29 for a scholarship designed to recognize local high school seniors committed to the environment.

Since 2009, Rumpke has selected one Jefferson County Public Schools student each year for the Rumpke Recycling Scholarship. In addition to demonstrating environmental stewardship, applicants must be graduating from a JCPS school this spring and planning to earn a two or four-year degree at an accredited institution.

Past recipients from Eastern, Butler and duPont Manual high schools have organized school recycling programs, participated in community clean-ups or gone on to study environmental science.

“The young people recognized through our scholarship program are making a difference in our community,” said Rumpke Regional Vice President Mike Nelson. “We are glad to recognize these students as they are an inspiration to our clean and green mission.”

Applications are available by contacting Rumpke Education Specialist Anne Gray at anne.gray@rumpke.com or (800) 582-3107 ext. 7164.
