CINCINNATI - Aug. 5, 2013 - Michael Puckett was promoted to Director of Safety at Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc. on July 18.
Mike will oversee the corporate safety team and direct all aspects of Rumpke’s Safety Department. He will report to Rumpke’s Chief Operating Officer.
His responsibilities will include maintaining compliance with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, as well as all other laws. Mike will also maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the overall safety of Rumpke employees and the communities Rumpke serves. These efforts include personnel training, accident investigation, inspections and audits, security, loss control, litigation and crisis management.
Mike joined Rumpke in 2009 as regional safety manager for Rumpke’s Cincinnati Market. While in that position, he managed Cincinnati’s safety team and developed training, safety procedures and related record keeping for the Cincinnati Market’s nearly 1,000 employees.
Before joining Rumpke, Mike worked as a safety and security manager for Hamilton County and for the City of Wilder, Ky. He also was employed as a safety consultant for SML Restorations and served as a police officer and code enforcement officer for the City of Dayton, Ky.
Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Justice Studies from Northern Kentucky University. He also has a Master of Public Administration from Northern Kentucky University. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law and was admitted to the Kentucky Bar.
Today Mike remains a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, serves as a board member for the Greater Hamilton County, Ohio Safety Council and works part time as a police officer in Wilder, Ky.
Originally from Ludlow, Ky., Mike currently resides in Union Township, Ohio, with his wife Gina and two children Mitch and Lucy.
