Caller ID Scam Uses Rumpke Numbers

CINCINNATI (July 31, 2014)— Caller ID spoofers are scamming homeowners. They are using Rumpke owned phone numbers to make caller ID systems display the “Rumpke Waste” name to inspire homeowners to answer calls. When a homeowner answers a call, another company, unrelated to Rumpke Waste & Recycling is on the line soliciting personal information (in some instances social security numbers) and offering services and products unrelated to Rumpke. Others are asking for information to pay your Rumpke bill. Please be advised these are not Rumpke representatives calling.

If you receive one of these calls please let us know the number that appeared on your caller ID as well as the date and time of the call. You can reach us via email at www.rumpke.com and select the “Contact Us” link.

Rumpke is working with authorities to actively investigate this situation. Local phone service providers as well as the Federal Communications Commission and the Public Utilities Commission are aware.
