Rumpke Rolls Out Recycling to Milan

MILAN, Indiana – June 22, 2016 – As part of a new contract with Rumpke Waste & Recycling, Milan residents can now recycle material curbside.

Rumpke recently delivered 18-gallon red recycling bins to all Milan households to collect bottles, cans, paper and cardboard. Larger 65-gallon wheeled recycling carts are available upon request. To order, residents should contact Rumpke at 1-800-582-3107.

Rumpke will collect Milan’s recycling once per week, on the same day as trash. Residents are reminded that recycling and trash containers should be placed at the curb the night before scheduled collection.

“As a recycling leader, we are always looking to grow recycling in the region by making it easy, affordable and accessible,” said Dean Ferrier, municipal/public sector representative, Rumpke.  “We look forward to working with Milan residents to grow their recycling program and divert material from the waste stream.”

Residents can recycle a variety of common household items through Rumpke’s recycling program, including:

  • Plastic bottles and jugs (please flatten and reattach the lid)
  • Cartons
  • Glass bottles and jars (any color)
  • Aluminum beverage cans
  • Steel cans
  • Empty aerosol cans (with lids and tips removed)
  • Paperboard (cereal boxes, 12-pack containers, etc.)

  • A variety of paper products, including:
  • Office paper
  • Newspaper
  • Magazines
  • Junk mail and envelopes (with or without windows)
