Rumpke Hosts Annual Medora Neighbor Fest

MEDORA, Ind. — Aug. 11, 2016 — Rumpke hosted its annual Neighbor Fest at the Medora Landfill on Aug. 10, 2016.

Despite looming thunderstorms, nearly 75 neighbors attended for dinner and tours of the landfill.

“As a family company, we always enjoy getting together with our neighbors for this annual event,” said Ralph Collins, Rumpke Medora Landfill Manager. “We appreciate everyone taking time to join us.”

The awards ceremony highlighted the night. Guests were invited to bring a side dish or dessert to share, and a panel of judges recognized the best ones. Elaine Belk and her zucchini quiche won the Golden Fork Award for best side. Peg Thompson received the Golden Spoon Award for her pina colada cake.

“These were some of the best homemade sides and desserts I’ve ever tasted,” said Collins.

Rumpke catered a fish fry from the Carr Township Conservation Club and an assortment of sides and desserts from Flying Pink Pig BBQ. Rumpke has hosted the event for nearly 25 years.
