DAYTON, Ohio.—July 6, 2015—Recent Dunbar High School graduate Isaiah Davis is the 2015 Rumpke Dayton Public Schools Scholarship winner.
Since 2014, Rumpke has awarded the Dayton Public Schools Scholarship to recognize local high school seniors committed to the environment and academics. The winning student receives a $1,000 scholarship to use toward their two or four-year degree from an accredited institution.
Davis plans to attend the University of Findlay in the fall and study engineering and entrepreneurship. Davis enjoys sports, spending time with his family and volunteering for numerous programs in the Dayton area.
“One summer while working, the job required our department to pick up litter in the community parks,” Davis wrote in his scholarship essay. “It was really ridiculous to see the mess people left behind. The great thing about it was seeing the end result…If we would all do what the old adage teaches, 'Being your brother’s keeper,’ we would all prosper,” said Davis.
“Congratulations Isaiah and thank you for embracing environmental stewardship,” said Rumpke Regional Vice President Mike Bramkamp.
Rumpke has had a recycling plant in Dayton for more than 20 years. The company employs more than 200 people locally and is a DRG3 Green Certified Business.
