Elsmere Residents Now Receiving Weekly Recycling Collection on Wednesdays

Elsmere, Ky.--July 3, 2013—Rumpke has started weekly recycling collection on Wednesdays for residences located within Elsmere city limits.

Under the new agreement with Rumpke, all residents will receive weekly curbside recycling service every Wednesday. Meanwhile, the trash collection schedule will not change. Residents should place materials curbside the evening before scheduled collection.

The only other change associated with service is the billing. Now residences will receive quarterly invoices directly from Rumpke. The contract secures one low trash service rate and ensures no additional charge for recycling.

To participate in the recycling program, residents should place plastic bottles and jugs, aluminum and steel cans, paper products including newspapers, magazines, paperboard and junk mail, and glass bottles and jars in their Rumpke recycling containers. Residents should not place medical sharps or syringes, window or drinking glass, plastics that are not bottles or jugs, coat hangers, scrap metal, plastic bags or Styrofoam in their recycling.

Residents can request a 65-gallon wheeled recycling cart at no additional cost by visiting Rumpke.com or by calling 1-877-786-7537 to upgrade. “An average American can produce nearly one ton of trash a year and 60 percent of our waste is recyclable. By offering weekly curbside recycling and the option of a larger recycling container, Elsmere is providing its residents with a way to increase recycling and decrease the amount of waste going to landfills,” said Amanda Pratt director of communications at Rumpke. “By recycling what we can, we are making a positive difference for our environment and leaving Elsmere, cleaner and greener in the process.”
