INDEPENDENCE, Kentucky – Oct. 12, 2015 – Independence residents can place properly bundled and bagged yard waste at the curb for collection on their normal Rumpke service days the weeks of Oct. 19, Nov. 2 and Nov. 30.
Yard waste includes grass clippings, bushes, branches and leaves. Items should either be bagged or tied in bundles less than four feet in length and 2 feet in diameter. Bags and bundles shouldn’t exceed more than 35 pounds. Residents are limited to 10 bags and/or bundles of yard waste each collection week.
Independence residents are reminded that all regular trash placed at the curb must still be fully contained within a Rumpke trash cart, with the exception of these three scheduled yard waste collection weeks and the monthly large item collection, which is offered the first full week of service each month, at no additional cost.
During large item collection weeks, residents can place up to three items too large to place in the carts like furniture or appliances at the curb. Residents should contact Rumpke at least 24 business hours in advance to notify of setout and review guidelines on how to prepare the material for collection.
In addition to trash service, Rumpke also offers curbside recycling in Independence at no additional cost. Residents that choose to participate are provided with an 18-gallon red recycling bin to collect recyclables. Residents can upgrade to a larger 64-gallon recycling cart for an additional $1 more per month.
For service questions, or to sign-up for additional Rumpke services, residents should contact Rumpke directly at 1-877-786-7537.
