BUTLER, Kentucky – June 23, 2016 – The City of Southgate recently signed a new contract with Rumpke Waste & Recycling to provide its residents with weekly waste and recycling collection, beginning the week of July 4, 2016.
As part of the new contract, all residents will receive a 95-gallon, brown, Rumpke trash cart and a 65-gallon, green, Rumpke recycling cart. Rumpke will deliver trash carts to residents Saturday, June 25. Smaller trash carts are available upon request by contacting the City at 859-441-0075. Residents should expect recycling carts to be delivered the week of June 27.
Southgate residents will continue to have trash and recycling collected on Tuesdays. Residents should watch their mailbox for information from Rumpke with trash and recycling guidelines.
As a reminder, residents can recycle the following household items:
- Plastic bottles and jugs (please flatten and reattach the lid)
- Glass bottles and jars (any color)
- Aluminum beverage cans
- Steel cans
- Empty aerosol cans (with lids and tips removed)
- Paperboard (cereal boxes, 12-pack containers, etc.)
- A variety of paper products, including:
- Office paper
- Junk mail and envelopes (with or without windows)
- Telephone books
- Paper grocery bags
Recyclables should be placed into carts loose and not contained in plastic bags.
