  • Any other items identified with “Danger” or “Poison”, including pool chemicals, insecticides, and some cleaning supplies

The best way to dispose of such items is to use them up as intended. The worst? Throwing them out in the trash or down the drain. This is not just harmful to the environment, but can also cause dumpster and trash truck fires, especially during warmer seasons.

Thankfully, Kenton County—together with Boone and Campbell Counties—is a member of the Northern Kentucky Solid Waste Management Area (NKSWMA). That means that as a Covington resident, you can simply bring your items to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, typically held the first Saturday in November.

How do I dispose of large items like furniture, mattresses, and appliances for disposal?

If you would like to have larger items picked up curbside, make sure to let us know at least 48 hours before your regularly scheduled collection. A few notes:

  • We cannot do curbside pickups of televisions larger than 32 inches.

  • Mattresses and upholstered furniture must be completely sealed in disposable plastic for removal.
