AISWMD selected the Medora Landfill (Medora, Ind.) for an environmental stewardship award based on recent site improvements and an ongoing effort to provide community education and recycling opportunities. Rumpke has owned and operated the landfill since 1983.

“I am very proud of the work we are doing in Jackson County,” said Regional Vice President Mike Nelson. “Landfill Manager Ralph Collins and his team have earned this award through hard work and a steadfast focus on compliance and above all, environmental preservation.”

Re-Invention Award: Presented by the Conway Center for Family Business   The Re-Invention Award recognizes businesses that successfully adapt to societal demands and a changing business climate. Rumpke has done just that with a multi-million dollar investment in recycling in Columbus, Ohio.

In order to accommodate an increasing volume of recyclables, Rumpke installed the best available technology at its Columbus Material Recovery Facility (MRF). This four-month project has doubled processing to 60,000 pounds of recyclables per hour. This will allow Rumpke to promote more recycling to communities and businesses in Central Ohio.
