Rumpke operates a Resource Recovery Facility, located on South Production Drive, just south of the City limits. The facility is a pit stop for waste collected in the County, which will then be transported to our Medora, Indiana Landfill for disposal. The site also has recycling capabilities to assist residents and businesses with their sustainability goals.

Standard residential trash collection includes weekly pickup, and the schedule varies based on your location. Rumpke customers are provided with a schedule for garbage collection and curbside recycling. The price for residential trash collection varies depending on the location.
Residential Recycling
Rumpke offers single-stream recycling, where all recyclable materials are collected in one recycling bin or cart. Once Rumpke collects your recyclable materials, we transport them to a recycling facility and where they are sorted using manual and automated methods.

It is typically used for construction debris, household waste, office cleanouts, or other types of waste materials. Rumpke offers these types of dumpsters in 15-40 cubic yards.
Do I need a permit for my Bloomington, IN Dumpster Rental?
The permit requirements for renting a roll off dumpster depends on your location. In some areas, a permit may be required if you plan to place the dumpster on public property.
Our team can help you confirm if you need a permit or advise if you need permission from your homeowner association (HOA) based on your address. We can also help you plan where to safely place the dumpster if blocking shared driveways or utilities is a factor.
Transfer Station Services
The Monroe County Resource Recovery Facility accepts municipal solid waste and construction and demolition debris. The site doesn’t accept hazardous waste (or household hazardous waste) or industrial waste. Certain items may be restricted or require special handling such as batteries.
Where do I take large items, furniture, etc., for disposal?
Large items such as furniture and appliances can be disposed of at the Monroe County Resource Recovery Facility. Freon does need to be properly removed from appliances.
How can I dispose of a mattress?
Mattresses can be disposed of at the Resource Recovery Facility. Unlike with curbside collection, there is no need to wrap and seal in plastic if dropping off at the facility.
