Residential Garbage Removal in Broadview Heights FAQs:

Do you offer household hazardous waste disposal?

Per federal law, Rumpke cannot accept hazardous materials, including:

  • Batteries

  • Fluorescent light bulbs

  • Paint

  • Antifreeze

  • Freon

  • Combustible materials like gasoline and used motor oil

  • Any other items identified with “Danger” or “Poison”, including pool chemicals, insecticides, and some cleaning supplies

The best way to dispose of such items is to use them up as intended. The worst? Throwing them out in the trash or down the drain. This is not just harmful to the environment, but can also cause dumpster and trash truck fires, especially during warmer seasons.

Luckily for Broadview Heights homeowners and residents, Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District hosts a year-round dropoff at the city service garage. You can bring any household hazardous waste except paint to our Oakes Road service entrance Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

You can check out the Solid Waste District for more details.

How do I schedule bulk trash removal, such as for moving or renovations?

Hiring a hauler for bulk trash collection—including for large items such as mattresses, furniture, and appliances—is easy. Just make an appointment online on our website.

You can also opt for an open-top dumpster rental. A roll-off container is ideal for major home projects and discarding large volumes of debris from, say, a major garage or basement cleanout, landscaping, or home remodel. Our dumpster sizes range from 15 to 40 cubic yards. Call us ahead of time, so we can determine the best dumpster for you, as well as advise you of any items that may or may not be accepted at the landfill.

Finally, you can also drop off any bulk trash at our transfer station here. We're down the street from The Crossings shopping mall at West Royalton and Broadview Roads.

How do I dispose of large items like furniture, mattresses, and appliances for disposal?

If you would like to have larger items picked up curbside, make sure to let us know at least 48 hours before your regularly scheduled collection. A few notes:

  • We cannot do curbside pickups of televisions larger than 32 inches.

  • Mattresses and upholstered furniture must be completely sealed in disposable plastic for removal.

You can also bring larger items to our local transfer station or to Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District’s city service garage. Additional fees may apply.

How does trash pickup service work in Broadview Heights?

First, reach out to your HOA to find out whether it hires a private trash collection service. If not, Rumpke provides weekly curbside trash and recycling services to Broadview Heights residents. You can either call us at (800) 828-8171 or submit a service request form online to register.

Weekly curbside pickup allows for disposal of up to six 32-gallon trash cans or bags. Make sure to put your trash and recycling out the night before your scheduled collection day. For more details, check your service guidelines on the back of your invoice or on our website.

How do I get recycling?

Rumpke uses single-stream recycling, where we collect your recyclables together in a single container. That makes recycling easy for you, since you don’t have to separate out your different recyclables. It also helps the environment since we can make sure all items are sorted properly at our recycling facility.

Broadview Heights residents can recycle the following items:

  • Plastic bottles, jugs, and tubs

  • Glass bottles and jars
