Rumpke Makes Investment in Central Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Kentucky – February 1, 2021
Cincinnati-based Rumpke Waste & Recycling is expanding its presence in Central Kentucky. Today, the family owned waste and recycling service provider purchased assets from Central Kentucky Fiber Resources, including its facility at 847 Angliana Avenue in Lexington.

“Throughout our family company’s nearly 90-year history, recycling has been an integral part of our story,” said Adam Rumpke, region vice president. “We are very excited about this opportunity to operate a recycling facility in Central Kentucky, and work to grow our service offerings in the region.”

In addition to the Central Kentucky Fiber Resources acquisition, Rumpke is also constructing a $5 million solid waste transfer facility at 245 West Yusen Way in Georgetown, Kentucky.

The 21,606 square foot site will be used to transport residential and commercial waste collected in Scott and surrounding counties to Rumpke’s regional landfills in Pendleton and Montgomery County, Kentucky.

“Rumpke has operated a landfill and hauling operation in Mt. Sterling Kentucky since 1989,” said Rumpke. “Our business has seen steady growth, and we continue to make investments to operate more efficiently and best serve our customers.”

The Scott County facility is expected to be complete in April 2021.

Rumpke currently operates 16 facilities in Kentucky, including six transfer stations, three landfills, one recycling center, six truck depots and one convenience center.
