Each year, Rumpke grants scholarships to graduating high school seniors throughout our service region. These students demonstrate academic excellence and share Rumpke’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Rumpke presented 12 scholarships this year, including two new awards. We look forward to seeing future achievements from theses standout students.

The inaugural Pendleton County Landfill Scholarship was presented to Alexandra Logan of Falmouth, Ky., who helped establish a recycling program for the classrooms and athletic fields at Pendleton County High School. She will attend Eastern Kentucky University or the College of Mount St. Joseph and plans to become an athletic trainer.

Brooke Frailey of Jeffersonville, Ky. is active in roadside cleanups and recycling. She is also the winner of the inaugural Montgomery County Landfill Scholarship. Brooke will attend Morehead State University in the fall and major in social work.

Elizabeth Greenslade of Mansfield, Ohio, earned the Rumpke Richland County Scholarship for her work as a safe driving advocate and cleanup volunteer at the Black Fork of the Mohican River. She will major in chemistry at Ohio State University.

 

Nicole Williams

Nicole Williams of Ansonia, Ohio, received the Rumpke Darke County Scholarship. Nicole has been a volunteer in the Darke County Trash Bash cleanup and organized a paper recycling program at Ansonia Junior and Senior High Schools. She plans to study international relations at Ohio State University.

Morgan Mayes of Louisville, Ky., received a Rumpke Recycling Scholarship and will attend Centre College. Morgan initiated a charity drive at Eastern High School to raise funds for a water purification system assisting victims of the earthquake in Haiti last year.

Tyler Pottschmidt

Tyler Pottschmidt of Seymour, Ind. earned the Rumpke Medora Landfill Scholarship through his leadership in 4-H and Future Farmers of America. Tyler will attend Purdue University and study agriculture systems management. After college, Tyler plans to be fourth-generation owner of his family’s farm. 

The Rumpke Brown County Landfill Scholarship was presented to Cody Pack from Georgetown, Ohio. Pack is an avid recycler and self-proclaimed environmentalist who plans to attend Centre College and major in biology/pre-med.

Northwest High School Students

Each year, Rumpke selects five scholarship recipients at Northwest High School in Colerain Township, Ohio. Rumpke Sanitary Landfill Scholarship winner Erin Bates will attend Ohio State University and major in chemical engineering. Rumpke Recycling Scholarship winner Megan Reed will attend the University of Cincinnati and major in business. Rumpke Founders Scholarships were given to Kamilah Howard, Samantha Paluga and Cimarra Pierman, who will each attend the University of Cincinnati in the fall. They will major in communication sciences, communications and pre-med, respectively.
